Hornet Heroes for the Planet

St. James Santee Elementary Middle School is surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the Francis Marion National Forest. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by the wonders of nature each day when we come to our school.

To celebrate our amazing location and surroundings, scholars in grades CD-5th kicked off the 2025 spring season with a nature scavenger hunt. We worked in teams to find and identify various plants and trees growing right in our own schoolyard. Afterwards, we sketched and researched our findings. Check out our work in this SJS Field Guide.
